Roger Dale Kirkpatrick Obituary

Roger Dale Kirkpatrick, age 73, of Scurry, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 20, 2021. A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Roger Dale Kirkpatrick was born on March 9, 1948, in Hillsboro to the late Mr. Cecil Roger Kirkpatrick and Mary Ida Finnegan Kirkpatrick. He was raised in Hillsboro until moving to Euless as a young child. He met the love of his life, Patricia Ann Jarvis at Buckys Rainbow Skating Rink in Euless but because of their age difference, Roger had to wait five years to ask for her hand in marriage. He enlisted into the United States Army on March 14, 1968, and loyally served his country until receiving his honorable discharge on March 13, 1974. Though separated throughout most of his military career, his beautiful Pat wrote him letters until he returned to her. Roger finally married his ‘beautiful little doll’ on September 15, 1972, at his parents’ home in Euless and they made their home in Scurry. He worked for General Motors factory for many years before working construction to help his father build homes. He retired from the City of Kaufman, where he has awarded best driver from 2006-2009 as well as many other awards for his service to the city. Roger loved swimming, water sports, fishing. He also loved to bowl and play poker or card games. He was an exceptionally talented pool player and enjoyed making bets for easy money. Roger was a very humble and honest man that believe that a man’s handshake was his word. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joey.

Roger is loved and will be missed by his ‘beautiful little doll’, Pat Kirkpatrick of Scurry; son, Richard Dennis Kirkpatrick of Scurry; brothers, Benny and wife Dana of Euless, Ricky of Hillsboro, Donny and Judy of Itasca; sister, Frances and husband Roger of Hillsboro and Janet of Euless; grandson and the apple of his eye, Andrew Lee Kirkpatrick of Missouri; many numerous nephews and nieces, and his k9 kid and companion, Precious.
