Jacqueline “Jackie” Clarke Rowe, 83, of Greeley, passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. She was born December 31, 1937 in Santiago Chile to Richard Thomas Clarke and Marla Inez (Porter-Walker) Clarke. She was raised by her mother and stepfather Robert Ballenger. Jackie grew up in Chile and Argentina, moving to La Paz Bolivia with her parents in her late -teens. She met and married Robert D. Rowe on June 22, 1957 in La Paz. Jackie and her husband lived in several Latin American countries before coming to the United States. Jackie became a naturalized citizen on December 14, 1962; she loved her new country. That same year she went with her husband, Bob, and their three young children to Sudan, Africa for his work. She and her family returned to the United States in 1967 living in Virginia, where she earned her Associates Degree in Nursing from Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). In 1977 Jackie and her family moved to Greeley when her husband was transferred to F. E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She worked ten years for Weld County General Hospital, now North Colorado Medical Center, as an operating room nurse. Later she worked for the US Army in Gorgas Hospital, Panama Canal Zone, Panama where her husband was working with Southern Command. Upon return to Greeley she worked as a Migrant Nurse, as she was bilingual. Jackie once sailed to Bermuda from the Chesapeake Bay and back with a friend. She loved the ocean. She enjoyed painting, reading, gardening, and was an expert cross-sticher. Jackie belonged to the Caledonian Society of Greeley. She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church where she served as a lector and Eucharistic minister for many years. Jackie was survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Dale Rowe by 18 days. Robert “Bob” Rowe, 93, of Greeley, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on the farm that his paternal grandparents homesteaded in Savannah, Missouri on December 15, 1927. He grew up in Savannah during the Depression years, graduating from Savannah High School on May 17, 1945 at the age of 17. He served in World War II’s Pacific Theatre. Bob was honorably discharged in 1946. He attended Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy (now Rolla University) graduating in 1951 with his Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering and Geology. In 1979, he received his Master of Arts in Public Administration. In 1950, Bob went to work for Inter American Geodetic Survey (IAGS) this job took him to the Caribbean Central America and South America. He was in La Paz, Bolivia where he met and married Jacqueline “Jackie” Clarke on June 22, 1957. His work that he did laid the foundations for GPS. In 1960, Bob’s work changed and he and his family arrived in the United States. In 1962, his work as a geodetic engineer took him and his family to Sudan, Africa. In 1967, Bob and his family returned to Virginia. In 1977, Bob’s job was transferred to F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne. He and his family settled in Greeley. Bob’s final assignment before retiring was in the Panama Canal Zone, Panama working with Southern Command. Bob was an avid long distance runner, having run in many marathons including the Boston Marathon in 1978, Lincoln Marathon, and Marine Corps. Marathon. He was a skilled technical climber and enjoyed climbing the Rockies. He was a martial artist as well, introducing his daughter to the martial arts. He loved his family, especially his wife. He was a loyal friend and was a patriot who spent his life serving his country. Bob and Jackie are survived by their children, Ariane Rowe-Denning and husband James of Greeley, R. Ashley Rowe and wife Lisa of Midlothian, Virginia, and Brett A. Rowe and wife Lisa of Plymouth, MA; grandchildren, Sean Denning of Greeley, Bernadette, Robert William, Phillip, and Nathaniel Rowe all of Midlothian, Virginia, Zachary Rowe and wife Lucina of Plymouth, MA, Kyle Rowe of Plymouth, MA, and Rebecca Rowe of Denver. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Caryl Rowe. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30am Friday, June 25, 2021 at St. Peter Catholic Church.
