Joy Anne Gerity
Joy passed away on Monday, May 31st at 80 years old. She was a native of Denver, a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and Marymount University and earned Masters’ degrees from the University of Colorado and Denver University. She had a passion for education and spent her adult life working for St. Mary’s Academy and the Loretto Community. She was proud to be a founder of Escuela de Guadalupe. She had a great love for her family, friends, football, buttered popcorn, kitties, and a nice glass of chardonnay. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward Gerity and Lois Northcutt Gerity and her brother, Carl Gerity. Joy is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Garcia of Chula Vista, CA and Lisa Carpenter of Highlands Ranch, son-in-law Jan Carpenter, grandchildren Alexa, Kiko, Corey, and Maddy, brother Ted Gerity, sister-in-law Jacki Gerity and many family members and friends. There is a prayer service at St. Mary’s Academy on Monday, June 14th at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Mary’s Academy, Attn: Joy Gerity Tuition Assistance Fund, 4545 South University Blvd, Denver, CO 80113, or online at www.stmarys.academy.
