Carolyn “Sis” Jeanne Prager Obituary

Carolyn Jeanne (Grove) Prager, who was affectionately known by all as "Sis", age 90, of Lower Burrell, formerly of Natrona Heights, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

She was born on December 1, 1930 in Natrona Heights and was the daughter of the late Chester A. and Florence Alma (Collins) Grove. She was graduate of Har-Brack Class of 1948.  Sis was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Tarentum.  She was avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.  She was a member of the Lower Burrell Garden Club in the 1970's.  She loved gardening in her backyard and watching all the birds that visited.

Sis enjoyed traveling with family and friends from the East Coast to the West Coast, from Canada to the Bahamas.   During her high school years, she was a majorette for Har-Brack and later, the Natrona Marching Band.  Her first job was working in her father's bowling alley in Birdville setting pins and working behind the ice cream counter.  She was a great duck pin bowler.  Sis was also a talented seamstress.

Carolyn's grandchildren were her gems.  Watching them grow up and achieve their dreams made her happy.  She often attended everything they were involved with, from T-Ball, soccer, softball, swimming, marching band, music concerts, birthday parties, to graduation ceremonies, and so much more. They brought so much joy to her.

Carolyn met her husband, Harry, at a YMCA dance. They celebrated 55 years together before he passed away in 2008.  In addition to her parents and husband, Harry E. Prager, she was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Samuel G. Grove and Raymond L. Grove.  Survivors include her two sons, Daniel E. (Margaret) Prager of Allegheny Township and Paul E. (Victoria) Prager of Spotsylvania, Virginia, five grandchildren, Cole Prager, Elizabeth Prager, Lauren (Matthew) Bagley, Brandon Prager and Shawn Prager, two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Makennah Bagley, her sister, Linda G. Vorp of Freeport, her nieces, Deborah Lackey, Victoria Boardley, Candice Fazzio, and two nephews, Richard Grove and Jeff Grove.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the First United Presbyterian Church, 913 Lock Street, Tarentum, PA 15084, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Philip A. Beck, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will be private in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carolyn's name to the First United Presbyterian Church.  Arrangements entrusted to the Paul R. Ajak Funeral Home, Inc., Creighton.
