Christine Houlihan-Ramos Obituary

Christine Houlihan-Ramos, 53, passed away peacefully at home in Westfield on Friday, May 28, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Rockville Centre, Long Island, NY, she grew up in Merrick and lived in Hoboken before moving to Westfield. She attended St. Agnes Cathedral High School and received a Bachelor of Arts from SUNY Cortland and a Master of Arts in Special Education from New Jersey City University. Chrissy was naturally inclined to help people and after completing her education in speech therapy, she was employed as a speech therapist for children with disabilities at the League Treatment Center in Brooklyn for many years. More recently, she worked as a fitness instructor and personal trainer at JeniFit Studio in Garwood, where she changed the lives of many people and had a loyal following of clients. While her children were young, she worked tirelessly at Washington School, where she helped organize fundraisers. She will be remembered especially as a choreographer and member of the chorus at the annual Washington School show. Chrissy will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. Chrissy cherished her time spent with friends, sharing laughter and a glass of wine. Her greatest joy came from traveling with her family, watching The Family Feud, and listening to Lady Gaga. Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Ramos; her daughter, Michaela Ramos, her son, Kevin Ramos; her brother James Houlihan (Mary); her sisters, Kathleen Chase (Tom), Maureen Dunn (Chris), Mary Haggerty (Dan) Theresa Sheusi (Sal) and Anne Houlihan; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Eileen Houlihan. Visitation will be at Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Ave., Westfield, on Wednesday, June 2nd from 6 PM to 8 PM and again on Thursday, June 3rd, from 4 PM to 8 PM. Private services will be held on Friday morning. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Play for Pink www.playforpink.org – where 100% of donations go to breast cancer research.
