Steven Jay Peters
Steven Jay Peters, age 62, of Monument, Colorado passed away on May 23 in Colorado Springs. He was born August 6, 1958 to Byron A. and Barbara J. (Spesard) Peters in Taylorville, Illinois. Steven went to high school at Taylorville Senior High School and graduated in 1976. He went on to earn a B.S. degree in computer engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Steven worked in the computer industry for Digital Equipment Corporation, Compaq Computer Corporation, Hewlett Packard Corporation, PMC-Sierra, LSI Corporation and, most recently, Seagate Technology. He was the recipient of multiple patents and helped write the Storage Management Initiative Specification. He enjoyed making things using woodworking equipment, metal working equipment, and 3-D printers. He was interested in model trains and electric cars. Steven was very tech savvy and shared his expertise with the many people who often sought his help. Steven enjoyed helping others and was happiest at home enjoying food and conversation with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Steven is survived by his siblings, Sharon Peters of Salt Lake City, Utah, Charles Peters of Wilmington, North Carolina, Jeffery Peters of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and his nephews, Nate Jasper of Salt Lake City, Utah, Corwin Peters and Dirk Peters both of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Griffin Peters of Arlington, Virginia. A Celebration of Life will be held from 7:30PM-9:00PM, Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Steve's house.
