Florence Anne Fontana

Florence Anne Fontana, 98, of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 25, 2021. She was born to Joseph and Mary (Scarpitti) Greco on February 19,1923, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1941, and was a life member of St. Titus Catholic Church in Aliquippa. Florence met Louis "Jot" Fontana in 1946. They were married on February 2, 1947 in Aliquippa Pennsylvania. Together they raised two children: Annamarie and Louis. A devout Catholic, Florence loved her family above all else, and nothing gave her more pleasure than being surrounded by her loved ones at the holidays and Sunday dinners which she hosted into her nineties. There was always an extra plate at her table... or two. She loved reading, listening to opera, and watching her "stories." Her greatest joys were frequent visits from friends and family who always felt welcome and loved. She will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Florence is survived by her loving daughter with whom she lived, Annamarie (Lou) Biega, her devoted son, Louis (Polly) Fontana, beloved grandchildren to whom she was "Nana", Doug (Cary) Biega, Jennifer (Matt) Custer, TJ (Kate) Fontana, Brian (Ashley) Fontana, and her five beautiful great-children, Jack Biega, Luke and Elsie Fontana, and Olivia Florence and Vivian Fontana, and many loving nieces and nephews to whom she was "Aunt Flops." She was preceded in death by husband, Louis Fontana; parents, Joseph and Mary Greco; brothers, Edward (Catherine) Greco, Marshall (Mildred) Greco, Sylvester (Maida) Greco, and Ralph Greco; sister and best friend, Violet (Jerry) Fontana; a special niece, Gilda (Trent) Shaver. Friends will be received Friday, May 28, 2021, from 4pm to 7pm at TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, PA, 15001, www.tatalovichfuneralhome.com, where a service will be held Saturday. May 29, 2021, at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Titus Catholic Church, Aliquippa. Private entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Hopewell Twp. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
