Gordon O. Brenensthul, 91, passed away on Sunday May 23rd, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. He resided on Route 22, and was the husband of the late Janet (Woodard) Brenensthul. Gordon was born on April 26, 1930, in Bennington, VT, son of the late Orvil and Maud (Brock) Brenensthul. He graduated from Hoosick Falls High School, class of 1949. Gordon was employed at Johnson Controls in Bennington until his retirement several years ago. Gordon was a Fraternal Order of Eagles Past Secretary and President of the Hoosick Falls Aerie, New York State President in 1987-1988, Past Eastern Regional President in 1988-1999, (NY, PA, NJ, DE, Eastern Canada) and New York State Hall of Fame member. Survivors include his children Robert Brenensthul of Walloomsac, NY, Paige Brenensthul of Hoosick Falls, Tambra Gaucher of White Creek, NY, also seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Gordon is predeceased by a sister Audrey Field. Funeral services will be Friday May 28th, at 6:00 pm, from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 pm until the start of the service. The New York State Aerie Bible Presentation to the family will be at 4:30 pm, Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the F.O.E. Children's Charity Fund through the funeral home.
