Derek J. Koso, 39, passed away May 18th, 2021 in Palmer, Alaska surrounded by family. Derek was born November 13th, 1981 in Anchorage grew up in Sand Point but resided in King Cove most of his adult life and just recently moved back to Anchorage, AK. He followed his father's footsteps and became a longtime fisherman in the Aleutians. Derek enjoyed fixing vehicles and lending a hand to family and friends whenever needed.             There was never a dull moment, he had a big heart and the love he showed to everyone even strangers he always put everyone first before himself. Derek is survived by his daughters Amber Koso and Keshaw McConkey, his son Dante Koso, his mother Sandy Moore and step mom Svea Williams, his sisters Natasha Koso, Sonya Glore, Danyette Stevens, Deanna Koso, Melissa Myers, and Jamie Myers, his brothers Michael Moore Jr., Jeremy Krone, and brother -in-law Richard Glore.  Derek has been preceded in death by the love of his life Dorothea Bernsten (October 2020) and by his father Derryl James Koso (December 2001) Plus, many more loved ones. Memorial donations may be made to Natasha Koso AlaskaUSA Account #1167023 or by mail 1319 Juneau Street Anchorage, Alaska 99501 Memorial services will be held at Witzleben Legacy Funeral Homes, Bragaw Chapel Wednesday May 26, 2021 at 2PM and a gathering will follow at 1319 Juneau St. The family will scatter Derek's cremated remains out the Aleutian chain at a later date.
