Michael J. Vitullo Obituary

Michael J. Vitullo of Burlington, NJ, died May 14, 2021. Age 64. Cherished son of the late Camillo and Eleanor Vitullo. Dearest brother of Kathy Ford (Joseph) of Cherry Hill, NJ; Nick Vitullo (Patty) of Englewood, FL; and Mary Komerosky (Cork) of Englewood, FL. Devoted uncle of Amanda Cohen (Ben), Kelly Lafferty (Chris), Lindsey Essock (Joe), and A.J. Ford (Liz). Beloved great-uncle of Brandon, Gabriella, Audrey, Charlotte, Liam, Eleanor, Jonathan, Graham, Georgia, and Camillo. Michael is also survived by his godson, Cory McGill and many cousins. After school, Michael worked at various jobs including meat cutter and videographer for surgical procedures before spending almost 20 years working for the IRS in Philadelphia, most recently as a Lead Tax Examiner. Michael has left this earth but his spirit will live on. Mike’s easy going personality and ability to talk on a multitude of topics allowed him to be in a room of strangers and come away knowing most of them. For those of you who knew Mike well, you know that he was a voracious reader and had a passion for history and learning in general. Mary always told him, “You should be on Jeopardy!” He loved Classic Rock, especially the Beatles, and had an eclectic taste in movies: including classics, sci-fi, mysteries and believe it or not—Hallmark Movies! As a movie buff, he was famous for quoting movie lines and spouting them off at the appropriate times which left some of us, mostly Kathy, wondering what the heck he was talking about! “Hey Chuckles,” which meant the most to his brother Nick and his good friend Glenn. Most of us were also treated to Mike’s never ending jokes, some appropriate but most not so much! He could tell a good joke! Mike loved his Eagles too but most of the time they just raised his blood pressure! During the many summers our family spent in Saranac Lake, NY, Michael’s love of the ponies began at a young age sitting at the bar in the Belvedere drinking Coke next to Uncle Al. His love of Wild Turkey came later! Speaking of Saranac Lake, Mike also looked forward to the festivities of Winter Carnival each February. Michael’s education, work and travel took him all over the map including England, Europe, the south Pacific and many places in the States and like a rolling stone he gathered friends and life experiences that made him the son, brother, uncle, friend and man we all knew and loved. Even though our hearts are heavy, we hope all of you will share your “Mike” stories with us and raise a shot of Wild Turkey in his memory. Here’s to you Chuckles!! Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Saranac Lake, NY 12983. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday June 9, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake, NY. Burial will immediately follow the mass at St. Bernard's Cemetery.
