John Raymond Mitchell, age 57, of Griffin, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at his residence.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Griffin, Georgia on August 26, 1963. He is preceded in death by his father, Boyd Mitchell. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church in McDonough, Georgia. John was a loving husband, father, and papa to his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and landscaping and owned his own landscaping business. He was also an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan.

John is survived by his wife, Katherine Merck Mitchell; mother, Rayma Mitchell, sons, Jonathan Mitchell, Jordan (Alycia) Hart; daughters, Jessica (Kenneth) Niko, Johana Hart, Jayden Hart-Mitchell; sisters Melanie Mitchell and Katherine (Lee) Cannon; brother Brandon (Brandy) Mitchell; grandchildren Eliana Niko, Jack Niko, and Max Niko; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, May 24, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 25, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Salem Baptist Church, 1724 Highway 155 North, McDonough, Georgia. The Reverend Richard Statham will officiate.
