Robert P. Wilks Obituary

Robert P. Wilks, 89, passed away peacefully in his home on May 18, 2021. He was the loving husband of the late Priscilla (Goggin) Wilks with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. Born in Beverly to the late Norman and Helen G. (Robertson) Wilks, Robert went on to graduate with a B.A. from the Harvard University class of 1953. After a four-year hitch in the U.S. Navy, Robert was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant JG. He became co-founder, along with his brother Norman, of Wilkscraft Printing, Inc., in Beverly. He ran Wilkscraft for 50 years maintaining a staff of some 20 employees-many of whom stayed upwards of 10 years. He was a longtime member of the North Shore Chamber of Commerce and served as a deacon at the First Parish Church of Beverly. Bob had many groups of friends, all of whom he enjoyed entertaining with “Cilla" at their home in Wenham. Along with his devotion to tending to his large garden, he was an avid, lifelong collector of rare stamps. He traveled extensively; including visits to Cuba and the Ukraine in the last ten years. Following retirement, Mr. Wilks became a familiar face at the Wenham Council on Aging where, for several years, he served as the organization’s accountant. Robert is survived by his son R. Eric Wilks and wife Deborah (Barnes) of Wenham; grandchildren Chad White of Gloucester, and Aimee White of Wenham; great-grandchild Ashley Wiggins of North Reading; as well as, many other close relatives and friends. Robert was pre-deceased by his brother Norman, Jr., and his grandson Mark S. White, Jr. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Wenham Cemetery on Main Street. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Please adhere to Covid-19 protocols. Arrangements by Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peabody Essex Museum, 161 Essex Street, Salem, MA 01970. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com .
