Robert A. "Bob" Keene Sr., 70, of Hopedale, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Cheryl A. (Elliott) Keene for the past 47 years. Born in Milford, April 18, 1946, the son of the late Stanley R. and Georgina M. (Fricker) Keene, and was a lifelong resident of Hopedale. He graduated from Hopedale High School in 1965. Bob worked as an engineer in Textile Clothing Research and Development for the U.S. Navy at the Natick Laboratories in Natick, for 25years prior to his retirement in 1990. He later worked for CarQuest in Milford as a delivery driver to area garages as well as the Evergreen Center in Milford for many years. In his early years he received his EMT license and worked for the former Bemis Ambulance Co. in Milford. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert A. Keene, Jr. of Hopedale and Bonnie Lynn (Keene) and her husband Gerald Lippé of Plainfield, CT; his sisters, Jean Ann Griffin and her husband Harland of Hopedale, Janice A. Rodriguez and her husband Alberto of Mendon and his sister-in-law, Debra Hetu of Blackstone. "Papa" is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brandon, Nicholas, and Kyle Keene, Alexis Kidder, Gavin, Sarah and Chelsey Lippé; four great-grandchildren, Chloe, Blake, Amari, and Aidan and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard J. Keene His passion in life was his love of cars. He was always working on his pride and joy, his 1965 Shelby Mustang that he proudly entered in many local car shows, coming home with numerous awards over the years and was a member of the Tri-Town Street Rods in Milford. He enjoyed trips to Mohegan Sun and taking cruise ship vacations. Bob wintered in Dunedin, FL for many years. His wonderful sense of humor and willingness to drop everything to help his family, friends and strangers will be sadly, missed by all whose lives he touched, especially his close knit family whom he dearly cherished. Visiting hours will be held Monday, September 5, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress St., Milford. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 10 AM in the Union Evangelical Church, 25 Dutcher St., Hopedale. Interment in Hopedale Village Cemetery, Hopedale, will be private.
