David Arthur Brandon

David Arthur Brandon, 70, of Elk Point, South Dakota passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Dave was born January 15th, 1951 to Jack and LaVonne Brandon and older sister Julie. Growing up in Sioux City, IA, he graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1971. He attended WITCC, earning a degree in Police Science and then enlisted in the Air National Guard 185th as a mechanic. On August 31st, 1974 Dave married Nancy Meis in Granville, Iowa and they were blessed with three children Christopher, Patrick, and Cora. After many wonderful years together, Nancy tragically passed away December 20th, 1985. On September 12th, 1992 he married Kim Groethe on her family farm outside of Elk Point, South Dakota and they were further blessed with another son, Jordan. Dave was a truck driver and a successful bar and grill owner. One of his proudest accomplishments was never being in an accident in his 30 plus years of driving. He was known for his trouble making with friends, outspoken personality, great storytelling, and making his family favorite caramel rolls. He enjoyed many years going out on the lake, golfing, cooking great food and watching Nascar. Dave loved spending time with his children and later on his many grandchildren, they were his greatest joy. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Kim Brandon, Elk Point, SD; four children, Christopher (Jen) Brandon, Spencer, IA; Patrick (Christina) Brandon, Jefferson, SD; Cora (Chuck) Hines, Huron, SD; and Jordan (Noele) Brandon, Madison, WI; grandchildren, Dallas, Jewel, Justice and Dyllan Brandon, Logan and Audrie Brandon, Sean and Payge Schimdt; sister, Julie Ryan; sisters-in-law, Jo Trobaugh; Carol (Duke) Ellington, Joyce Wray, Mary (Fred) Cerwick, and Karen (Tim) Pottebaum; brothers-in-law Mike Hasenbank, Bo Groethe, David (Darcy) Groethe, Roger (Lynn) Meis, and Steve (Patti) Meis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Nancy, his parents-in-law, Bud and Mary Jane Meis, brothers-in-law, Wayne Ryan and Paul Wray; and a niece, Kathy Ryan.
