Doreen Dorinda Nassy
Was born on January 6th, 1923 to Edward and Mariam Nassy in British Guiana and went home to be with the Lord in Marion, South Carolina on May 14th, 2021.
Doreen was a talented dressmaker and designer, owning her own business in Georgetown, Guyana. She migrated to the United States in 1971 and resided in Plainfield, New Jersey.
She was employed by the County of Union at Runnells Specialized Hospital in the Dietary Department until she retired in 1991.
She was also a long-time member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Plainfield.
Surviving her are her 4 children, Drexel Sampson of Marion, SC, Arlene Adams of Mount Laurel, NJ, Joseph Nassy of Bradenton, FL, and Michael Nassy of Columbus GA, her 10 grandchildren, Felicity, Richard, Allison, Alicia, Christopher, Sonya, Tasha, Sean-Paul, Edward and David, her 9 great-grandchildren, Page, Nicole, Anthony, Naomi, Elijah, Aidan, Julian, JaiQuan and Ruby, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Doreen is predeceased by her siblings Gladys, Eustace, Euburne, Eugene, Mavis, Leah, and Sheila. Her surviving sister, Lucille, passed 3 days after Doreen's passing. Ms. Nassy is also predeceased by her granddaughters Sasha and LaToya.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Plainfield in New Jersey at a later date to be determined.
