John David Nichols

Nichols, John David "Jack": Passed away peacefully and surrounded with love on May 15, 2021, at Sunnyside Home Long Term Care in Kitchener at the age of 87. Jack will be missed by his dear wife Betteanne and their children; Jean Cloes (Neil), Barbara Frey (Doug), Patricia (Trish) Gordon, David Nichols (Dawn Neill) and the late Jacklyn Nichols. Cherished memories are left with Jack's grandchildren; Pam Horvath (Joe), Sandy Cloes (Reg Whalen), Stephanie Gaudet (Geoff), Jake Frey (Kristene Paquin), Brad Frey (Shannon), Alex Roopram (Chris), Tori Gordon, Samantha Borys (Nathan), and Steven Nichols. Also survived by 15 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his brother Robert Nichols and his sister-in-law Bev. There are not enough words to express how much our father is loved. Jack was an exceptional man who showed great love and affection for his family and friends. Always greeting us with a smile, he was always happy to see and spend time with his children and grandchildren. He was never too busy to listen and was always willing to help. Jack was the well known founder of JD Nichols Plumbing and Heating and will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched. This quote from his granddaughter sums it all up; "Honouring our grandfather as we say goodbye today. Head of our Big Family, role model in all the best ways, amazingly kind person, professional grandkid spoiler, who is dearly loved by all." Private cremation has taken place under the direction of the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Interment of Jack's cremated remains will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Guelph. Heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of Sunnyside Home Long Term Care for their love and care. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Sunnyside Home Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
