John William Harper, Jr.

John William Harper Jr., 89, of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania passed away at the Masonic Villages on May 12, 2021. John was born on March 15, 1932 to John and Emilie (nee Gardner) Harper Sr., in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. After graduating from high school, he started his career as a tool and die inspector. Throughout his career he worked for TRW, Chromalloy, and Amercon International. John was known for his good cooking and rememberable style of clothing he would golf in. He also made many stained-glass pieces, enjoyed shooting at the range, and was an avid Penn State Football and Philadelphia Phillies fan. He was a member of many organizations including the Perseverance Masonic Lodge #21, the Harrisburg Consistory, the Zembo Shrine, and was also a Jester. John also served as the past president of the Zembo Sports Car Club. John is preceded by his parents John Sr. and Emilie, as well as his wife Elizabeth M. Harper. He is survived by his son John (Tammy) Harper III, his grandchildren Katie (Andrew) Barlup and Rebecca (Craig) Gilligan, as well as his great-granddaughter Blake Barlup. There will be a graveside service held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 6701 Jonestown Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17112, on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. The Perseverance Lodge #21 will be providing Masonic Rites followed by Rev. Dr. Keith Blank officiating the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Masonic Hospice by visiting masonicvillagehospice.org.
