Ernest L. Cassinger

<p>Ernest Lee Cassinger passed from this life on May 15,2021 in Harper Texas at the age of 77. He born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and moved&nbsp;to Sugar Grove, Ohio in 1970. Ernest left Ohio in 1978 and moved&nbsp;west to Colorado, Nevada before&nbsp;settling in Texas in the mid 1990&rsquo;s. Ernest found his home in the Texas&nbsp;Hill Country living in Boerne, Bandera, Kerrville, and finally Harper.</p> <p>He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966&nbsp;and&nbsp;Vietnam Theater and he was a life member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars.&nbsp; His last posting was with Kerrville Post 1480.&nbsp; &ldquo;Once a Marine, always a Marine.&rdquo;</p> <p>Avid Civil War enthusiast who became a re-enactor in his teens and participated with the 1st Ohio Regiment, Company C, Columbus, Ohio.&nbsp; After moving from area the in 1970, he was the founder and Captain of the Ohio 17th, Company B (Sherman&rsquo;s Brigade) of Lancaster, Ohio.&nbsp; After moving westward, he participated in events, but never again belonged to an organized regiment.</p> <p>He enjoyed colleting items related to &ldquo;The King&rdquo; Elvis Presley and loved showing off this &ldquo;Elvis Room&rdquo;.</p> <p>He is proceeded in death by parents, Homer and Alice Cassinger and brother, Nelson Cassinger.</p> <p>Those left to honor and cherish his memory include, children, David Cassinger, Anna Ruiz, Robert Cassinger, Tammy Hannah as well seven grandchildren, nine great grandchild.</p> <p>Graveside Services will be held at 9:45AM on Thursday, June 10,2021 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.</p> <p>Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Kerrville Funeral Home (830)895-5111</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Ernest Lee Cassinger passed from this life on May 15,2021 in Harper Texas at the age of 77. He born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and moved to Sugar Grove, Ohio in 1970. Ernest left Ohio in 1978 and moved west to Colorado, Nevada before settling in Texas in the mid 1990’s. Ernest found his home in the Texas Hill Country living in Boerne, Bandera, Kerrville, and finally Harper.
