Roger Erickson

Roger Erickson 71, of Shenandoah, Iowa, passed away Saturday May 15, 2021, at his residence in Shenandoah. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 21, 2021 at the Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa with Arlan Hoskins and Noel Gandy officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 20, 2021 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7. Interment will be held in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Nyman, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Christ Point Baptist Church, Shenandoah, Iowa. Memories can be shared with the family at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, where we 'Celebrate Life'. Roger Lee Erickson lost his battle to pancreatic cancer on May 15, 2021. He was born to Robert (Bob) and Gedna (Barr) Erickson on January 12, 1950 in Clarinda, Iowa. He was married to Linda Lorensen on November 21, 1970. They were both graduates of Clarinda High School class of 1968. They lived on a family farm in rural Essex between Clarinda and Shenandoah until 2000 when they moved to Springfield, Missouri to start a home repair business called Dad's Home Repair. They moved back to the area in 2010 and lived in Shenandoah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Gedna (Barr) Erickson, grandparents Carl Edwin and Elizabeth Erickson and W.E. and Grace Barr, as well as several Aunts and Uncles. Roger is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda (Lorensen) of Shenandoah, IA; his three daughters and sons-in-law, Amy Jo (Jon) Bruney of Fremont, IN; April Lynn (Patrick) McDermott of Madrid, IA; Andrea Lee (Chris) Finck of Winterset, IA; his grandchildren JoLynn (Trevor) Thomas, Jonna Bruney, Sean and Rory McDermott, Andrew and Kaylee Waterman, Lane, Sawyer and Shelby Finck; one great granddaughter, Zoey; his aunts Ruth (Barr) Hewitt and Mary (Barr) Dammann; and many cousins. Roger loved baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He enjoyed farming, hunting, being outside in nature, and golfing. But most of all he loved his grandkids and enjoyed watching them in their many activities. Roger was a hard worker with a unique sense of humor. He will be missed greatly.
