John J. DiCarlo

John J. Di Carlo died peacefully at home on January 29, 2017 at the age of 91. He was born December 23, 1925 in Lebanon, PA. John was the son of Joseph Di Carlo and Teresa (Natale) Di Carlo. His parents moved to Norristown when he was 7, and he lived there all his life. John worked as a steamfitter and plumber and was a member of Local Union 420 in Philadelphia. He served as Plumbing Inspector in Norristown for several years in the mid-90's. He attended Holy Saviour School where he was the Sacred Heart Boy. He then attended Rittenhouse and Eisenhower High School, Class of '43. He served 4 years in the Regular Navy during World War II and spent 19 months in the South Pacific with an Aviation Repair and Overhaul Unit. He was discharged with the rate of PO2nd class. John married his middle school sweetheart, Mary Ann Civitello with whom he shared 70 wonderful years of marriage and 7 children. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed his friends and meeting new people. He loved reminiscing and hosting his bi-annual pig roasts. In later years, he spent many hours on the computer keeping in touch with everyone. He took pleasure in his woodworking shop and taking his 1962 Lincoln Continental to antique car shows and parades. He was the quintessential American who bled Red, White & Blue. He preferred products Made in U.S.A. and proudly flew the American flag every day outside his home. John was also very proud of his Italian heritage. He volunteered his help in constructing the Columbus monument in Elmwood Park, and was one of the founding members of the Catholic War Veterans Norristown Post 1182. He was a life-long member of Holy Saviour Church. John is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Ann (Annie), his sister, Mary Ann Puccella, four daughters Mary Ann Eynon, Margie Kraft (Kevin), Theresa McGuigan (Jim), Anne Draus (Tom), and two sons, John (Nancy), and Mike (Holly). In addition, he is survived by 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren with one on the way. John was preceded in death by his eldest daughter Angela Giovonizzi (Frank), and son-in-law Tom Eynon and his siblings, Anna, Frank and Jessie (Rowan). Visitation will be Wednesday evening, February 1, 2017, at Caramenico Funeral Home Inc, 403 E. Main St., Norristown PA. 19401. from 6 8 pm. Also Thursday morning, February 2, 2017 at the Caramenico Funeral Home from 9 10:45 am., followed by mass at 11 am at Holy Saviour Church, 407 E. Main St. Norristown. Burial will be at St. Patrick's Mausoleum following services.
