LaVerne A. Koenig Obituary

  LaVerne A. Koenig, age 94, of Reedsburg, died peacefully on Friday, May 14, 2021at the Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center with his family by his side.  He was born on September 7, 1926 in Lime Ridge, the son of William and Anna (Schultz) Koenig.  LaVerne was a graduate of Lime Ridge High School.  He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army.  On June 10, 1949, he was married to the former Enola Weseloh.  LaVerne was a lifelong farmer in the Town of Westfield, Sauk County.  He was also a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Loganville.  LaVerne enjoyed spending his winters in Arizona for over twenty years.

 

  Survivors include his four children: Harley (Pam) Koenig, of Reedsburg; Barb (Leo) Schneider, of DeForest; Dean (Tammy) Koenig, of Hickory, NC and Bev (Tom) Keel, of Reedsburg; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great- grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Betty Weseloh, of Baraboo; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife: Enola, in January 2019; his brother: Edmund (Bertha) Koenig; and his brother-in-law: Marvin Weseloh.

 

  Private family services will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church in Loganville with Pastor Tim Anderson officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Reedsburg Area Veterans Honor Guard.  There will be a visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg.  Face masks and social distancing will be required at the visitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
