LOUISVILLE – David Paul Modlin, 62, of Louisville went peacefully to be with the Lord at 10:35 PM, Thursday, May 13, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at home. David was born on August 14, 1958 in Litchfield, Illinois to John and Wilma (Crouch) Modlin. He was united in marriage to Debra Eckel on December 8, 1990, in Flora, and together they shared 30 beautiful years of marriage, three children, and one granddaughter. David was employed for 15 years at Bruckerts Chevrolet in Bunker Hill, Illinois where he was awarded 2nd in the United States for service with Chevrolet. David continued his career in the automotive industry at Dan Hecht Chevrolet Toyota of Effingham for the past 18 years. David was an avid lover of aviation where he obtained his pilot’s license in early adulthood. His greatest hobby was building and flying model airplanes during his lifetime. His greatest joy was in his blessings of his wife and family. He loved going to his granddaughter Olivia’s events and was a very proud Papaw. David was of the Christian faith and devoted husband, father, and papaw that shared his love of the Lord to all around him. David is survived by his wife; Debra Modlin, of Louisville, 3 children; Jeremy (Lisa) Clark, of Mattoon, Kimberly (Kevin) Haun, of Louisville, Matthew (RaeAnne) Modlin, of Evansville, Indiana. He is also survived by his mother-in-law; Wanda (Hinkle) Gerber, 2 brothers; John (Diane) Modlin, of Macomb, Illinois, Richard (Linda) Modlin, of Mercedes, Texas. He had one beautiful granddaughter that was his pride and joy; Olivia Fayth Haun. He is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services honoring the life of David will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the McGriff & Triplett Funeral Home in Louisville with Joe Smith officiating, burial will follow at the Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be held on Monday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM, and then on Tuesday from 7:30 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Red Brush Christian Church Refinery Youth Group, North Harter Christian Church or Fur A Good Paws, Animal Rescue in Flora.
