This schoolhouse remains on the family ranch today. Then attending the “new” Baker High School and graduating in 1962. In 1963, Linda met and married Ralph Rising on November 23, 1963. To this union one son, Pete, was added to their family and together they ranched and raised their son NW of Baker. Linda loved horses, cattle and dogs. She told stories of the many rides to and from school, usually on Flicka, during the spring and fall. Linda and Ralph took great pride in being the third generation to ranch on the same place that now their son Pete and his sons operate today. Linda being an only child was the favorite and apple of Murry’s eye and her grandfathers as well. If there was one thing Linda despised, it was dresses and only wore them under duress. However, she was known for her clean jeans, pressed shirts and turquois jacket. Kay and Judy were two of Linda’s lifetime friends, both hold many secrets of Linda’s younger days and Linda A.K.A “Sagebrush Savage” was a big part of this threesome. Linda loved anything the ranch life had to offer. She enjoyed training horses, roping in the branding corral and always had a jackknife in her pocket. Over the years Ralph and Linda could be found competing in team penning events around the area. Linda learned how to A.I. cattle over forty years ago and got great satisfaction from enhancing their family cattle program. There are many agricultural programs that were blessed to have Linda as a member, 4-H as a leader, Baker Cowbells, Montana Angus Association of Wibaux. Faith was an important part of Linda’s life and she was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Baker, MT. Linda leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love for agriculture and a family that loves her. She is survived by her son, Pete (Carol) Rising; grandsons, Wyatt (Bailey) Rising and Morgan Rising all of Wibaux, MT.; numerous nieces and nephews. Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Rising and parents.
