Philip Lay

Philip Lay, age 90, of Pittsburgh (formerly of Highland Park, born in Mramorak, Yugoslavia), passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 14, 2021. Philip is survived by his loving daughters, Cynthia Ann (Joseph) Scharf and Linda Diane (Keith) Coll. Cherished Opa of Ryan (Katie), Sarah, Emily, Amanda, and Courtney. Philip is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his adoring wife, Susanna (Liptak) Lay; parents, Martin and Barbara (Kempf) Lay; and brother, Peter (Wanda) Lay. Philip became a US Citizen in 1984 and it was a very special moment in his life. He worked many years as a machinist for NAVCO as well as Golden Anderson Manufacturing. Most importantly he loved spending time with his precious grandchildren, traveling, tinkering and porch sitting. He learned the English Language by watching western movies. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Services are private and have been entrusted to the care of Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills.
