Obituary

SOUTHBURY – Clint Hull, 62, passed away peacefully on May 13th in his home after a long battle with cancer.  Shari, his wife of 15 years was by his side.  Clint was a life-long Southbury resident.

He played bass in a band (Rampage) in High School.  The band did some traveling on the East Coast and opened for some big names along the way, James Cotton, to name one.

During his driving era he attended a driving school class in Atlanta.  He was on a Motor week TV segment at the school he attended.  Clint started racing Karts in the 1980’s, just before getting out of Karting he joined the National races in Massachusetts and Daytona.  He had several big wins and a couple of championships.  Black stock car went to full body stock car locally, he caught on quickly and had great success.  Due to that style of car being phased out, he went into NASCAR modified.  He drove against a lot of guys that made it to the top level, to racing “cup” cars.  He was sponsored by a lot of people including Rocky Arbitelle (owner of the Mobil Gas Station of Southbury).   In every race he was in he moved from the back of the field to the front and won many races.

Clint worked with three local flooring companies before starting his own company, Nova Floors in 1987.  He continued working up until a few years ago when he had to taper off due to his illness.

He married Shari in 2006, who was a friend since high school.  They enjoyed many years of Royal Caribbean cruises, traveling with friends, kayaking, walks, windy days, storms and listening to smooth Jazz.  He always enjoyed “picking” antiques – no matter where they traveled. He made several appearances on Lara Spenser’s Flea Market Flip.  He and his wife enjoyed cooking together and dancing in the kitchen while they prepared food.

Survived by his wife, Shari, two stepchildren: Jessica Burke (Michael) and Matthew Totsch (Stephanie), 4 grandchildren:  Madeline and Carson Burke, Vivian and Caiden Totsch, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kim and David Neddermann and his niece Alaina and his nephew, Jeffrey (Andrea).  He was blessed with many good friends whom he considered family: Jill and Rodger Craig and Ricky Matheson.  His parents, Harry and Beatrice Hull, passed when he was young.

Service will be at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home in Southbury on May 22nd from 11:00 – 1:00.  In lieu of flowers contributions in Clint’s memory may be made to the Ansonia Animal Shelter, 2 North Division Street, Ansonia, CT.  06401.  Attn: ACO.  To leave an online condolence please visit www.munsonloveterefuneralhome.com.
