<p>Fred Conway Allen, 82, beloved husband of Joan Turner Allen, died Wednesday, May 12, 2021.<br /> <br /> Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Herman and Callie Smith Allen.<br /> <br /> Fred served two tours in Vietnam with the US Army and retired after 21 years of service. After his career in the Army, Fred retired from Michelin after 20 years. An avid deer hunter and fisherman, he built engines for the drivers at Greenville/Pickens Speedway. He was a loving father, grandfather, very generous to strangers, and would not hesitate to lend a hand to anyone in need.<br /> <br /> In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Beverly Isaac (Tim), Martin Allen, Russell Allen, Melanie Truesdale (Mark); fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and siblings, Catherine Yeomans, Ann Cooper, Larry Allen (Linda), and Helen Martin.<br /> <br /> A public viewing will be held on Sunday May 16, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will be in North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Guests are requested to follow CDC Guidelines.<br /> <br /> In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research by visiting www.michaeljfox.org.<br /> <br /> Condolences may be left for the family by visiting the Tribute Wall above.</p>

Fred Conway Allen, 82, beloved husband of Joan Turner Allen, died Wednesday, May 12, 2021.

Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Herman and Callie Smith Allen.

Fred served two tours in Vietnam with the US Army and retired after 21 years of service. After his career in the Army, Fred retired from Michelin after 20 years. An avid deer hunter and fisherman, he built engines for the drivers at Greenville/Pickens Speedway.
