Charles "Charlie" Chancellor Obituary

Charles David Chancellor (Charlie), 76 of Wesley Chapel, FL. passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2021. He is survived by his devoted wife, Diane;  two sons, Steven and Jay of Lutz, FL:  brother Brian Chancellor (Ruth) of Griffin, GA.: nephew, David Chancellor (Ashley) of Montgomery, AL;  niece, Deborah Morsberger (Michael) of Clearwater, FL:  niece, Diane Nuce (Chad) of Meansville, GA, as well as numerous cousins and great-nieces and nephews.
When Charlie married Diane in 2007, he also welcomed her children, Forrest McLeod, Melanie Jackson and sons, Timothy and Austin, and Amanda Phillips (Wayne).  The birth of Sophia Grace and Toby blessed him with the special grandpa name of CHA CHA.  His greatest joy in life was being CHA CHA to his grandchildren.  He spent many special hours playing and enjoying activities with them.
Charlie was a proud US Air Force Veteran and bravely served in the Vietnam War from 1962 -1966.  He was stationed in Korat, Thailand , DaNang, Vietnam and Shemya, Alaska.
He worked for years at Jackson Products in Tampa and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union.  He also earned a second retirement from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office where he worked for 23 years as a Detention Deputy.
Charlie was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing many hours with family and especially good friends, Terry Ferguson and Bill Kalenits. One of Charlie's hobbies was furniture making and woodworking.  Friends and Family members have enjoyed many beautiful cradles and special furniture pieces that were crafted by Charlie.
Charlie was predeceased by his father, Lomax Comer Chancellor and by his mother, Ella Margaret Thornton Chancellor.  He was also predeceased by his wife Carol Ann Roth Chancellor and became devoted "Uncle Charlie" to her nephew, Don Reising and his daughters, Kelsey and Bailey.
Charlie was a faithful member of Northgate Baptist Church in Tampa, where he served as deacon and trustee for several years.

A wonderful husband, father, brother, friend and Cha-Cha, our world and lives are better due to the love an joy from Charlie.

Charlie's "Homecoming Celebration" will commence on Wednesday, May 19th, 2021. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. at Northgate Baptist Church (Tampa). Charlie will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Charlie's memory to the Next Greatest Generation Veterans Operating Fund at the University of South Florida (fund 590079) or to the Northgate Baptist Church Benevolent Fund.

You can also shine Charlie's light by simply thanking those in uniform.
