Betty Kelley Hendrix

Mrs. Betty Carol Kelley Hendrix, 82, of Richmond, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the Kenwood Health & Rehab. Mrs. Hendrix was born in Madison County, on June 3, 1938 and was one of twelve children of the late Leslie C. and Lossie Shifflett Kelley. She retired from Clark Moores Middle School where she worked in the cafeteria and went on to work for the Cabinet of Family Resources and as the housekeeper for former Governor Wallace Wilkinson. Mrs. Hendrix loved to spend time outside working in her yard and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed attending yard sales, flea-markets and just spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include: her children, Joan Carol Hendrix Wagner, Marty Hendrix (Dianna), Jeff Hendrix, Keith Hendrix (Karen), and Donna Hendrix Coates (Darwin); 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a special friend whom she considered a daughter, Faye Winkler; three brothers, Bobby Kelley, Donnie Kelley, and Ron Kelley; four sisters, Jean Moore, Charlotte Morris, Barbara Kelley and Judy Hacker; as well as a host of other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband of 64 years, Kenneth L. “Red” Hendrix; a son-in-law, Byron Wagner; two brothers, Billy Kelley and Jesse Lee Kelley; and two sisters, Joyce Murphy and Norma Warner. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:30 PM Friday, May 14, 2021, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Ryan Coates, Bro. Owen Moody and Bro. Scott Guiley officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. A walk-through visitation will be held from 5-9 PM Thursday, at the funeral home. Social distancing & face coverings are requested. Pallbearers will be: Doug Moore, Les Moore, Randy Warner, Rick Warner, Steve Kelley and Derek Kelley.
