Florence Ruth Potter Obituary

Florence Ruth (Patterson) Potter was born on Aug. 4, 1926 to Pearl (Westerman) and Welchie “Slim” Patterson in Van Tassell, WY.  She attended school in Lusk where she met her future husband, James “Jim” S. Potter, Jr.

They were married Oct. 4, 1944 in Compton, Calif. while he was in the U.S. Navy.  Once out of the service their home was Lusk.  They proceeded to have three children, all born and raised in Lusk: Janette in 1945, James D. in 1946, and Judy in 1949.

During her life Florence enjoyed riding her horse, camping with family, the ladies bowling league, and most of all Florence’s Ceramic Shop.  She was a stay-at-home mom that raised her children and helped raise her grandchildren.

Florence is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, two brothers, her daughter Janette, and a granddaughter, Toni.  She is survived by her son James D. and daughter Judy (Jon), both of Lusk.  She had twelve grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren, along with various other relatives.  As per Florence’s request, there will be no services.

Any donations can be made to the Niobrara County Senior Center or the Douglas Care Center.
