Iris M. Young Obituary

Iris M. Young, 96, of Louisville, went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ, on Monday May 10, 2021.  She was at home surrounded by her loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jacob A. Young of 32 years and a daughter in law, Angie Young.

Iris is survived by 1 sister, Wiletta, 5 wonderful children, Terry (Bev), Donna, Steve (Cindy), Mark (Jackie), and Todd Young, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and many other loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Iris was born March 27, 1925 to the late Fred F. and Georgia Fern (Moore) Johnson.

She worked and retired from American Air Filter, where she was a credit analyst.

Iris was an avid member of Southside Baptist Church and a member of the senior club, where she enjoyed October trips to Florida.  Iris would help prepare lunch and cooked for Dare to Care.  She was a member of “The Red Hat Ladies” and always enjoyed meeting new friends.

In her spare time, she loved to bake various breads and shared them with friends and family.  Iris loved to spend time with her grandchildren and her family.  She was a stranger to no one, a friend to many, and loving mother and grandmother with a heart of gold.

A special thank you to the people of Hosparus for the loving care and support given to Iris and her family as well as her caregivers in her final days.

A celebration of her life will be held Thursday at 6:00 pm at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 4400 Dixie Highway.  Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 until time of service.

Due to COVID restrictions, masks are to be worn at all times and social distancing is expected.
