Joseph L. Diodato

Joseph L. Diodato, age 89, of Hanover, passed away on, Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Genesis Gettysburg Center in Gettysburg. He was the loving husband of Helen H. (Halapy) Diodato; together they shared over 63 wonderful years of marriage. Joseph was born in Harrisburg on October 2, 1931. He was the son of the late Joseph Silvagio and Anna Diodato. He was graduated from Harrisburg Catholic High School class of 1949. He proudly served his country in the US Army and was honorably discharged. He also served in US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla. He was the owner and operator of Maldi Hobby Shop in Hanover for many years. He served as a Manager and retired from the PA Liquor Control Board. Joseph was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, and he started the first Numismatic Club in Hanover, serving as its President. He was a member of the Conewago Carvers, and a life member of the McSherrystown Home Association. In addition to his wife Helen, he is survived by his daughter JoAnne Diodato and her husband Jared Eiler of Hanover; his son Anthony Diodato and his wife Vicki of Mount Gretna; his grandsons James and Giordan Diodato and his step-grandson Theodore Eiler. He is also survived by his brother Philip Silvagio and wife Julie, his sister Rosemary Baker, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services and interment are being held privately by the family under the direction of Murphy-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., of McSherrystown. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joseph’s memory may be made to the Hanover Public Library (Guthrie Memorial Library), 2 Library Place, Hanover, PA 17331.
