Nelson Hill Obituary

Nelson Hill, Sr., passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. He was born on February 9, 1929 in Redrock, Florida to the late Lee and Ortonce Telfor Hill. Nelson, affectionately known as Hasty, joined Mt. Pilgrim African Missionary Baptist Church. He was educated in the Santa Rosa County School System. He attended J. B. Turner School where he played baseball and basketball. In 1950 he joined the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict. Nelson Hill, Sr. worked at NAS Pensacola for 43 years. He owned and operated The Blue Goose and a Barber Shop. He was preceded in death by his parents and 7 brothers. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Alice Lurlean Larkins Hill of Milton, FL; one son, Nelson Hill, Jr. of Milton; two daughters, Jackquline Hill Thomas (Everage) of Milton and Wanda Hill Wright (Nathaniel) of Sanford, FL; one brother, Henry Hill of Milton; five sisters: Pearlie Harris, Stella Hill, Alberta Hill and Dorothy Hill, all of Milton, and Roxanne Budweg of Minneapolis, MN; one sister-in-law Mary Beth Hill of Milton; three grandchildren, Shlita Hill Edwards of Pensacola, FL, Kevin Dixon and Keith Wright of Sanford; two great-grandchildren, Trinity Edwards of Pensacola and Kamora Dixon of Sanford; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral will be held Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton. Visitation is from 9:00 am until the funeral begins at 11:00. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.
