Wanda Maye Webb Obituary

Wanda Maye Carter Webb, age 90, passed away on May 8, 2021 in Gulfport, Mississippi. She was born on November 2, 1930 in Quitaque, Texas to Jesse Hugh Carter and Hazel W. Orr Carter Jones. She was a native of Lockney, TX. She moved frequently but lived for extended periods in St. James, MO and Vicksburg, MS. She was a resident of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Frank G. Jones; and step-sister, Flora Lee Jack.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Obil J. Webb; son, Dennis Webb and wife Anita of Vicksburg, MS; sisters, Lynna Davis and husband Thurman of Orlando, FL, Laveta Morren of Floydada, TX, Othelia Bass and husband Otis of Amarillo, TX; step-brother, F.G. Jones and wife Pat of Plainview, TX; granddaughters, Blair Webb Ashley and husband Miles of Vicksburg, MS; and great-grandchildren, Walker and Kate Ashley of Vicksburg, MS.
Wanda graduated from Lockney High School in the Class of 1948, and Rolla, MO VoTech for dental assistant. After serving two years in the United States Navy, she received an honorable discharge. She worked many years as a telephone operator and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, St. James, MO. She enjoyed her daily devotionals and going to church.
Wanda loved her granddaughter Blair and her great-grandchildren Kate and Walker. She loved to share videos of Kate and Walker with friends and family all over the country by email. There will be no memorial service at this time. A private service for immediate family will be held at a later date. Wanda was always concerned for those less fortunate, especially children during the holidays. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Salvation Army, especially their Christmas Angel program and Toys-For-Tots, or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Armed Forces Retirement Home.
