Gaffney--M.C. Bonner, affectionately known as "Hammer", 71, of 513 Estelle Road, peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, May 7th at Cherokee Medical Center. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of Mary Alice Ellis Bonner and son of the late Herman Sr. and Ida Pearl Wilson Bonner. M.C. was always the life of the party. He could make even the saddest moments be filled with laughter and joy with his sayings, jokes, and unique personality. At an early age he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and joined Mikes Creek Baptist Church and retired after many years of service from Broad River Electric Cooperative. M.C. was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandaughter; Natalia McCluney, sisters; Claudette Bonner, Janice Bonner, Creola Bonner, Sarah Bonner, Annie Goudelock, and Phylis Thompson; brothers; Herman Bonner Jr. and R.J. Thompson. In addition to his wife, Alice Bonner he is survived by his children, Toney Littlejohn (Cynthia), Gantry Bonner, Marshall Littlejohn, Jody Leach, James Littlejohn "Junior" (Sophia), Nekima Bonner, Nicole Bonner, Cenora Littlejohn, a niece reared in the home, Natarsha Kirby (George), special nieces; Kathy Littlejohn and Charlotte Bonner, a special son; John Fowler (Hillary), son in law, Edward McBeth, daughter in law, Asherla Stevenson Bonner; brother; Nerer Bonner Jr, sisters; Minnie Bonner and Angela Norris (Darren); step-brothers, Ronald Oglesby (Betty), Donald Oglesby (Pat), John Oglesby, Larry Oglesby (Debra); step sisters, Fanina Smith and Novella Oglesby, twenty-two grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, sisters in law; Ella Mae Bonner, Millie Vanlue, Faye Peeler, Mary Ellis, and Minnie Ellis; a special friend, James "Butterball" Hollis Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, May 12th, 2021 at 1pm in Concord Baptist Church cemetery. A public viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 11th from 4pm until 8pm at Gordon Mortuary of Gaffney.
