Manuel De Jesus Barbosa, Sr.

Manuel de Jesus Barbosa, Sr., passed away at his home in Newark, on Saturday May 8 , 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Praia de Jequia, Rio de Janeiro Brazil and came to the United States in 1962 and settled in the Ironbound Section of Newark. Manuel worked as a Longshoreman for the ILA at Port Newark for 30 years, retiring in 1996. Beloved husband of 62 years of Raquel Moreira (nee Dias) Barbosa; devoted and loving father of Manuel (Manny) Jr. and his wife Jody and Vera Lucy Barbosa; dear grandfather of Ashley Barbosa Yockey and her husband Daniel, Manny Michael Barbosa and his wife Sara, Vanessa L. Marques and Kevin J. Marques; great- grandfather of Everette and Jensen Yockey and Amaia Barbosa; brother-in-law of Maria Lucilla Barbosa and Alcina Barbosa; also survived by many dear nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass for Manny will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, 9:45 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Newark. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, N.J. Due to the restrictions recently placed on occupancy in public spaces by the State of New Jersey in the ongoing efforts to limit the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Manny's funeral arrangements are limited.
