A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 6, 2021 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Louis Jean Mayeux, Sr., 91, who passed away May 4, 2021 in Crowley.
Fr. Mikel Polson, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Thursday from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm with a rosary being recited at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Louis was born June 2, 1929 in Baton Rouge, LA; he joined the United States Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. He spent most of his career in the oil field. Mr. Mayeux was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
He is survived by two sons, Louis “Buddy” Mayeux, Jr. and his wife Mari of Crowley, and Charles M. Mayeux and his wife Anna of Lafayette; five daughters, Michelle M. Leger and her husband Mitchell, Andree M. Brown and her husband Mark “Boz”, Jeanne M. Schmid and her husband Kurt, Yvette M. Hoffpauir and her husband Harrell, and Claire M. Kelbaugh and her husband Keeffer all of Crowley; one sister, Ruth Allen and her husband Gary of Asheville, NC; thirty-one grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Mayeux is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Charlotte Chambers Mayeux; his parents, Lewis and Katie Morgan Mayeux; and one sister, Catherine Price.
