Brenda Tarver, 81, answered the Lord’s call to be reunited with her beloved Eric, on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation at Werson Funeral Home, 635 North Wood Avenue, Linden, NJ, on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 9 AM until 10:30 AM, at which time there will be a Funeral Service from 10:30 AM until 12 PM. To send online condolences to the family please visit www.wersonfuneralhome.com. Brenda was born to Timothy and Hattie (Haer) Mayer in Elizabeth, NJ, and was raised in Cranford, NJ for 69 years. Brenda married the love of her life, Eric Tarver Sr. on October 28, 1957. To this union, three children were born and they were blessed with eight grandchildren. They celebrated 58 years of love, joy and friendship. In May of 2008, Brenda and Eric Moved to O'Fallon, MO., to be near their children and grandchildren. Brenda graduated from Cranford High School and worked for Western Electric for several years before settling into her career as a secretary with the Cranford Board of Education until retiring in June of 2000. Brenda enjoyed traveling with Eric and their group of friends. Amongst their favorite places, their annual trip to the Hampton VA Jazz Festival (no kids allowed) and Hilton Head Island, SC. Brenda also cherished her trips back to NJ. While living in O’Fallon, Brenda volunteered for many years at the local elementary school as a reading tutor. Her grandchildren were the center of her world. She loved and adored them. Brenda leaves to cherish fond memories of her children, daughter, Hollee Smith and husband Harry, two sons, Eric Tarver, Jr. and wife LaTanya, and Todd Tarver, Sr. and wife Michele, grandchildren, Todd Jr., Austin, Barndon, Kendall, Morgan, Brooke, Devyn, and Logan, beloved sister, Bernice Mason, sister-in-law, Mary Mayer, brothers-in-law, Norman Morse and Harold Tarver, God-daughter, Jasmine Martinez, and a host of dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
