Patricia "Patty" Ann Peters Obituary

Patricia “Patty” Ann Peters (Norton) of Nashua passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on April 26, 2021 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.  She crossed into Heaven after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.  With the outstanding help of her medical team, Dr. Roa, Dr. Patel, and Dr. Hussian, she was able to extend her life with no suffering.

Patty was born in October of 1946 to Patrick and Nora Norton of Malden, Ma. Patty was the youngest of three girls with two older sisters, Barbara (Drivas) and Elaine (Doherty).  She graduated from Malden’s Girls Catholic High School in 1964 and accepted a position with New York Life Insurance in Kenmore Square, Boston, MA. She married Richard “Dick” Peters in April of 1971, with whom she recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.  The young couple lived in Medford, MA, Columbus, IN, Norwood, MA and eventually settled in Nashua in 1975 to raise their family.  Patty had three sons, twins Matt & Charlie and her youngest son, Dan.

Once her boys were in school, Patty began working for the Nashua School District; conveniently, she was always at the school her boys were attending.  She spent over 20 years working in the main office of the Charlotte Avenue School, Spring Street Jr High, and Pennichuck Jr High.  Her photographic memory could recall every students’ name and those of their siblings. She made many dear friends working in the school district and often attended lunches and other gatherings that were always filled with lots of smiles and laughter.  Patty had many close friends and neighbors who will deeply miss their chats, walks, jokes, and adult beverage occasions.

When the need arose, Patty retired early from the Nashua School District to care for her grandsons Ethan and Evan Peters.  She had so much fun that when Liam, Brady and Kasey came along, she continued her new career path.  This was without a doubt, her true passion.  Patty was the “Best Nana Ever” to all eight of her grandsons: TJ, Ethan, Evan, Liam, Kasey, Brady, Zachary and Maxwell.  She could often be seen taking them for walks around her neighborhood, visiting the Nashua Public Library, and always had plenty of play-dough at the kitchen table.

Patty had two additional great loves in her life, her 2 Persian rescue cats, Pugmahone, who lived to the ripe old age of 21, and 8 year-old Athena, who continues to terrorize Patty’s husband Dick to this day.

Patty leaves behind her husband Dick, her son Matthew and his wife Stephanie (Streeter) of Brookline, NH, Charlie and his wife Melissa (Monette), and Dan and his wife Michelle (Rondeau), sister Barbara Drivas, brother and sister-in-law Marty and Ruth Peters, and nephew Jimmy Doherty, all of Nashua.  She also leaves behind her dear sister-in-law Joanne Casey of Palm Harbor, FL and many more cherished nieces and nephews.  Patty was pre-deceased by her sister Elaine Doherty in 2019.

There will be a full funeral mass at Saint Christopher’s Church, Nashua, NH on Saturday, May 8th, 2021, starting at 11:00am. All friends and family are invited to attend while social distancing.  The family is planning to host a Celebration of Patty’s Life at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nashua Humane Society or the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH in Patty’s memory would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements under the care of ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua.
