Eleanor Wolf Burley Obituary

Eleanor Wolf Burley, 71, of Westville, SC passed away on April 28, 2021. Eleanor was predeceased by; her loving husband, William F. Burley Jr., her parents, Phillip J. Wolf Sr. and Eleanor Moulds Wolf, and, her brother, Donald. Eleanor was a graduate of Hanahan High School in Hanahan SC, and she graduated from Winthrop University with a specialization in Psychology, Education and Computer Science. After College Eleanor found her passion in teaching, specializing in Mathematics and Computer Technology. She first taught at Keenan High School in Columbia SC, and finished her career after 28 years at Andrew Jackson Middle School in Kershaw SC. Eleanor loved to teach, and she found joy in pushing her students to do better, and especially in helping those who found her favorite subject the hardest. She was always known for her Back to Basics approach starting each class, every year, from “What is the definition of a digit?” After teaching, Eleanor spent most of her time reading books, and researching whatever subject that piqued her interest and she wanted to know more about. Always learning more as she went. She loved puzzles and playing on POGO with the friends that she connected with from across the country. She loved to talk about cooking and crafts with friends from the community. She is survived by; her children, Anna E. Burley of Columbia, SC and William F. Burley III and his wife Ashley of Westville, SC. Her brothers, Jack Wolf Jr. and his wife Sheila of Hunt, TX, Jerry Wolf of Marengo, IN and, her beloved sister-in-law, Robin Northcutt of Acworth, GA. She is also survived by her fur-baby, Aerie of Westville, SC. It was Eleanor’s wish to not have “a big shin-dig” after she passed away. She only hoped that those close to her and in her heart that they would remember as she was. She made sure to state her intentions that as soon as she made it through the pearly gates, she intends to interrupt her husband’s last thirty years of fishing and hunting with a swift “bop on the head” for leaving her so early. The family asks that if anyone wishes to honor her please make a donation to either Epworth Children’s Home or the Salvation Army, Operation: School Supplies.
