Gregory Carl Harris Wilson, age 39, of the Oakland area passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis surrounded by family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Schilling Funeral Home with lifelong family friend Anthony Swinford officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Greg was born on January 28, 1977 in Charleston, IL the son of Michael Wilson and Karen (Sims) Layton. He married Pamela Zuber on April 14, 2007. Greg is survived by his wife, Pam, of Charleston, IL; his mother, Karen (Michael) Layton of Charleston, IL; father, James Harris, of Mattoon, IL; biological father, Michael (Linda) Wilson of Murdock, IL; his siblings Michael Wilson, Brandon Harris, Sean Harris, Wes Harris, Michelle Wilson-Munoz, Allen Wilson, Casey Wilson, and Allison Wilson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents John Carl and Mary Lou Sims, of Ashmore, IL, Fred R. and Betty Jo Wilson and Margaret Murphy; his beloved aunt, Betty Layton; and his sister Darla Harris Bonic. After high school, Greg joined the United States Army and served honorably for eight years. In lieu of flowers, donations to help with medical costs can be made to the family.
