Opal Butcher

Opal Newsome Butcher, age 96, of Meally died Monday April 26, 2021 at her residence. She was born September 27, 1924 in Olive Hill to the late John and Eliza Jane Bentley Newsome. On May 10, 1947 in Paintsville she married Douglas Butcher who preceded her in death on May 23, 2016. Survivors include two sons: Stephen Douglas (Carolyn) Butcher, David Newsome (Arlene) Butcher; four grandchildren: John Beecher (Laura) Butcher, Honorable Judge David Brett (Heather) Butcher, Stephen Douglas (Kara) Butcher, Melissa Ann (Kevin) Sheron; eight great grandchildren: Miles, Ben, Reese, Jase, Kessa, Kase, Kallie, Kaiya. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday at the Preston Funeral Home from 5 P.M. until 9 P.M. and on Thursday from 9 A.M. until time of services . Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 A.M. Thursday April 29, 2021 in the chapel of the Preston Funeral Home with Jackie Jarrell and Ronnie Spriggs officiating. Interment shall follow at the Butcher Cemetery at Williamsport with the grandchildren serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to be made to the Favored United Baptist Church at 24 Wagonwheel Road Louisa, KY 41230 or by contacting the Preston Funeral Home at 606-789-4212.

Mrs. Opal Butcher was a very good and inspirational person and she is the mother, grand mother or great grandmother of good and remarkable people. She will be greatly missed by her dear family and her many friends. Loyce and I send our condolences to her dear family.
