Henry T. Gillen

Henry T. Gillen (“Harry”) passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 25, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of 61 years to the late Margaret (Clare). Cherished father of Maureen Glussi (Donato), Fran Gillen (Romeo Petric), Peggy Gillen (James Grogan) and Thomas Gillen. Dear brother of Alice Boyland and the late William and the late Geraldine and husband Robert Dowiak. Proud grandfather of Ryan (Allison), Morgan(Dolores), Frank (Michelle), Andrew, Thomas, Daniel and Meaghan and beloved great-grandfather to Charleigh Glussi. Harry was a proud member of the FDNY L131 Happy Hookers in Red Hook, Brooklyn for 40 years. He loved nothing better than making stained glass gifts for friends, family and most fire houses in NYC. He was one of the founders of the Blue Angels Drum and Bugle Corps. out of Our Lady of Angels parish in the mid 1970’s. He was a member of the American Legion Society, Knights of Columbus, FDNY Emerald Society, FDNY Holy Name Society, VFW and Community Mayors, Inc. No one enjoyed life and a good martini more than Harry! He served in the U.S. Navy as an SP from 1953-1954.
