William Daris Cunningham

William Daris Cunningham, 82, of New Martinsville, WV passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 at his home with his family around him. Daris was born May 4, 1938 at his home place in Mahone, WV; son of the late Harold & Daisy (Baker) Cunningham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a baby daughter, Mary Katherine. Surviving are his wife of fifty-eight years; Patricia Ann (Monaghan) Cunningham; son Wm. Michael (Beth Pritchard); two granddaughters, Megan and Erin all of New Martinsville, WV; brother, Darrel (Dora Collins) of Smithville, WV; a niece, Debra; nephews, Harold (Vicky) and David (Tammy) all of Smithville, WV and various nieces, nephews and lots of cousins. Daris was a 1957 graduate of Harrisville High School and a 1964 graduate of WVU with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture; President and co-owner of Valley Plumbing & Electric, Inc. for forty-five years. He was plumber, electrician and HVAC installer by trade. He enjoyed working at his trade more than anything. He took over his home place after his mother passed and he truly enjoyed keeping it up and improving things. He and his family enjoyed many weekends there and in later years they hosted various family and HHS 1957 class reunions there. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville. Friends will also be received noon until time of service at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 29, 2021 at the King Knob United Methodist Church in Smithville, WV with Pastor Michael Hardbarger officiating. Burial to take place in the King Knob Cemetery in Smithville, WV. Memorial contributions may be made, in Daris’ name, to the WVU, Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, 1 Medical Center Dr., Morgantown, WV 26506.
