Barbara died at age 90 on April 18, 2021 at her adult care home in Portland, Oregon. She suffered a stroke in December of 2014 and died from complications from this medical event. Barbara was a long time resident of Jacksonville and the wife of former Oregon State Representative Donald Stathos. She graduated from Oregon State University in the area of home economics and taught high school in Oakland, CA for a short time. Barbara also provided part-time bookkeeping services for her husband’s insurance business. She opened and operated a home décor store in Ashland, Oregon for several years. Barbara was an accomplished seamstress and completed many loving projects for friends and family. 

Daughters Jenny Hill of Wilsonville, OR and Holly Ashurex of Vancouver, WA; granddaughters Melanie and Abby Grew; grandson Christopher Hill; great grandson Quinn Hill; and nephew Michael Wayne Brown survive her.

Barbara was a caring and compassionate person and will be deeply missed.

A service will be held at her gravesite next to her husband of fifty plus years, Don, at Siskiyou Memorial Gardens in Medford on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 1:00 pm.
