Kenneth P. Shanahan

Mr. Kenneth P. Shanahan, age 77, of Peabody, died Sunday surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was the husband of the late Lorraine C. (Ustaszewski) Shanahan. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Edward G. and Grace A. (Duffy) Shanahan. He was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of St. Mary's Boys High School, Lynn. He had lived in Peabody for over 40 years. Ken worked as a customer service manager for General Electric in Lynn for 38 years until his retirement in 1995, and was a graduate of the GE Apprentice Program in 1963. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Valladolid Council #70 in Lynn. Ken was an active communicant of St. Ann's Church in Peabody, and was a longtime choir member. He enjoyed golfing and gardening, and was an avid card player. He is survived by his son, Jason Shanahan and his wife Mary of Reading; his daughter; Kathy Leach and her husband David of Peabody; four grandchildren; Connor and Aidan Leach and Megan and Abby Shanahan; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary T. Joyce and Edward, John and Phillip Shanahan. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 11:30AM from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12 Noon in St. Ann's Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:30AM-11:30AM, prior to the funeral. Those who prefer may make donations to St. Ann's Memorial Fund, 140 Lynn St., Peabody, MA 01960.
