Betty Emory Taylor Obituary

Betty Jo Emory Taylor, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. The eldest of 11 children, she was born August 31, 1932, in Mayo, SC, a daughter of the late Thad and Irene Champion Emory. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Mayo First Baptist Church and retired from Spartanburg District 7 schools. Survivors include her sons, Keith E. Taylor (Cathy) of Spartanburg, SC and Glenn M. Taylor (Cynthia) of Scottsboro, AL; five grandchildren, Kenneth Taylor Jr., Angela Childers, Jason Taylor, Brian Taylor, and Emily Taylor; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Emory of Chesnee, SC; sisters, Hazel Emory and Kay Emory, both of Mayo, SC, and Nellie Emory of Greenwood, SC. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son Kenneth Taylor Jr.; and siblings, Thomas Emory, Jim Emory, Patsy Emory, Sam Emory, Bobbie McCraw, and John Emory. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 24, 2018, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by The Rev. Larry Fleming, and her son, The Rev. Dr. Keith E. Taylor. Visitation will be at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
