Paul James Manzo Obituary

Paul James Manzo, age 72, formerly of Lynn, died peacefully on Thursday in a local nursing home after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Virginia M. "Ginger" (Serino) Manzo, whom he missed dearly the past ten years. Born in Bangor, ME, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mary (Moscone) Manzo. He was raised in Millinocket, ME, and had lived in Lynn for the greater part of his life. Paul was a graduate of Stearns High School in Millinocket, class of 1961. He served in the United States Army from 1962-1965. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern University in 1988, majoring in Computer Science and Business. He worked as a programmer for Parker Brothers until his retirement. Paul loved to cook, and was known for his homemade bread and ravioli. He enjoyed golfing at Gannon Golf Course and playing racquetball at Beverly Athletic Club. He was instrumental in starting a youth hockey program in Millinocket along with Richard Venditti and Denys Millar. Paul liked to play his Yamaha G-245, S model acoustic guitar, and his family has fond memories of him playing 'Blue Christmas' by the fire. He is survived by his three children; Joseph Manzo and his wife Liza of Peabody, Lisa Dougenik and her husband David of Lynn and David Manzo of Lynn; six grandchildren; Sophia and Annalise Manzo, Madison and Danielle Dougenik, Brianna Grove and Mia Manzo; his siblings; Carmen Doe, and Fred and Robert Manzo, all of Millinocket; as well as dozens of nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Nat, Eugene II, John A., Johnny, Carl, Joseph, and Angelo Manzo, Effie Forshner, Esther Porter, Dolly Lowell, and Barbara Hale. His memorial mass will be held on Wednesday at 11AM in St Pius V Church, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visitation will be on Wednesday at the church from 10AM-11AM, prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes, 330 Congress St. #501, Boston, MA 02210.
