Frank Stephen Hassell April 10, 1939 – April 19, 2021 It is with deep and profound sadness that the family of Frank Stephen Hassell announces his passing on April 19, 2021 at the age of 82. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, Frank will be dearly missed. Frank spent the majority of his professional career as a material handling engineer for Ford Motor Company. As a sports enthusiast he was an avid bowler, and followed his beloved Detroit sports teams, always wearing one of his MANY team shirts as he watched their games. Frank will be sorely missed by his loving wife Donna, his sons Joe and Brian (Janine), his sister Pat Giannoulakis (Chris), son-in-law Yves Levesque, his grandchildren Kristen (Chris) Wesley, Katie Ann (Tim) Buchanon, and Eric (Audrey) Levesque, his great grandchildren, Peyton, Melanie, Chloe, Gavin, and Harper, nieces Rena and Niki Giannoulakis, his stepson Lewis Hurlbert (Nicole) and their children Kirby and Andrew, and stepdaughter Deanna Hurlbert and her spouse Sarah. My Dad used to pull an acoustic guitar out of his closet when we were very little. He would sit on the bed and strum that guitar for my brother Brian and I. It’s because of him I started sneaking his guitar out of his closet when I thought they weren’t looking and am a musician today. As I write this, I can’t help but hear this song and these lyrics running through my head: Leader of the Band Dan Fogelberg The leader of the band is tired, and his eyes are growing old, But his blood runs through my instrument, and his song is in my soul. My life has been a poor attempt, to imitate the man, I’m just a living legacy, to the Leader of the Band. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations in Frank’s memory to the American Heart Association and Humane Society. Thank you for your kind thoughts, words, and prayers in this difficult time.
