Evelyn “Jean” Sparkes (nee Pike) Corner Brook, NL February 20, 1920 – April 18, 2021 It is with great sadness that the family of the late Evelyn Jean Sparkes announce her passing on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at her family residence in Corner Brook at the age of 101 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Betty (Randy) Seymour; son Howard (Ivy) Sparkes; son-in-law Francie Brake; daughters-in-law: Daphne Sparkes and Imelda Sparkes; grandchildren: Cheryl (Randy), Karen (Levi), Linda (Scott), Howard (Cande), Wayne (Valerie, Charlotte (Harry), Stephen (Melissa), Sharon (Doug), Brian, Jacqui, Leanne (Bill), Shawn (Maxine), Sara (Jeff), Shem (Bailey) and Jeremy (Natasha); 35 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren; sister Geraldine Spare, Boston, Mass.; brother Frank (Audrey) Pike, St. John’s; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Foster Sparkes, sons Maxwell and Robert Sparkes, daughters Margaret Pretty and Barbara Brake, parents Arthur and Ethel Pike, brothers Harold, Bram, Cecil, Arthur and Samuel Pike, sisters Mildred Clarke, Irene Rideout, Mary Hiscock and Myrtle Clarke. Visitation to a maximum of 20 people in compliance with Covid-19 Government restrictions will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Tuesday, April 20 from 2-4 p.m.facemasks and physical distancing required. Funeral service will take place at the Salvation Army Temple, Citadel Drive, Corner Brook on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. to a maximum of 150 people (facemasks and physical distancing required throughout the service) with Majors Frank and Rita Pittman officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army Temple Memorial Fund.
