<p>Howard Eugene Exline, Jr., 67, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away Monday, April 19, 2021 at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia after a lengthy illness.</p> <p>Mr. Exline was born June 4, 1953 in Gassaway, West Virginia son of the late H.E. Exline, Sr., and Grace Patricia Smith Exline. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cathy Ours.</p> <p>Survivors include his wife, Debra Exline of 31 years; mother-in-law Jessie Aleen Lloyd; children, H.E. Exline III (Whitney), Brandi Exline Whitmer (Joey) and Jesse Winters (Danielle); grandchildren, H.E. Exline IV, Melody Brooke, Wyatt Whitmer, and Johna Belle Winters; several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Mr. Exline&nbsp;devoted 40 years to law enforcement, having served on the Russell County Sheriff&rsquo;s Department and Middle District of Georgia U.S. Marshalls. He retired from the Alabama National Guard, was Vice President of the Fraternal Order of Police and a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by his family.</p> <p>A memorial service will be held Friday, April 23, 2021 at 11:00am ET at Colonial Funeral Home with interment with military honors following at Fort&nbsp;Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am ET at the funeral home.&nbsp; Honorary Pallbearers will be the Russell County Sheriff&rsquo;s Department and the Middle District of Georgia U.S. Marshalls.&nbsp; Flowers will be accepted but donations are requested to the John B.
